Illawarra encircled by the Peace Heart Run

Wollongong, Australia, Sept 11, 2002
Non-violence, find peace - World Peace Society of AustraliaOn September 11 2002, the Illawarra was encapsulated in a gigantic heart, 2 marathons in distance, by ultra-marathon runner Joel Penson.

This run, touching the hearts of many school children along the way, symbolised the spreading of peace throughout the region during the entire day, and culminated at 5:30pm at the Wollongong Lighthouse, where the record hug attempt was made.

Joel hoped to draw attention to the fact that just as a little exercise can go a long way, so too can a little love make a large improvement in our lives.

This will be an annual event, so start making plans to join in for 2003! Contact us for more information.
